back in the saddle

After a year that included a divorce, a new job, travel and the building of a house, I am back to crafting. I have finished a couple of projects, including this baby blanket inspired by this one from the team at Purl:

I also knitted these coasters, based on a pattern from Purl Bee, to be given to a friend with hot chocolate for Christmas.

I knit all of these while traveling on planes, trains, in cars, in restaurants and bars, etc. They are easy and portable and I liked the results. I would like to find to finish the coaster edges more cleanly next time I knit them, though. They were all knit in superwash merino so they are machine washable.

Team Baby Blanket

I have been busy with things other than crafting lately, but with the help of others we managed to finish a team project - a baby blanket for a member of our knitting group who adopted a baby boy. We each knitted several squares and then took the squares to a local shop for seaming. One of our knitting group members then crocheted the edge. I think it's a pretty nice gift for a pretty cute little boy.
